A bride or groom may experience significant stress during the planning process, which comes first. Although many couples hire a wedding planner to help them with their planning, they can also do the majority of the work themselves. While it is certainly possible to plan a beautiful wedding on your own, regardless of your financial situation, you may find that the DIY aspect of the process appeals to you. Although planning your own wedding requires more time and attention to detail, it is possible to have the wedding of your dreams without breaking the bank.

Make a checklist of the most important things to remember on your wedding day.

  • Discuss with your partner the three most important aspects of your wedding and make a list of the top three priorities. These are usually 'Date - Location - Budget.'
  • Create a list of wedding guests that you would like to invite with your partner and important family members. Consider children and plus 1's.
  • Set a budget. Venue and guest numbers will be heavily influenced by this. Who is helping you finance the wedding?
  • Determine who your wedding party will be, ie. who will be designated as the Maid of Honor, Bestman, Bridesmaids, Groomsmen etc.
  • Honeymoon - when, where, budget.

It is necessary to maintain a sense of order and organization when faced with a mass of decisions, to-do lists, deadlines, and day-to-day duties in order to stay on track. First and foremost, give yourself plenty of time to complete your wedding preparations. Set a completion date for this activity of around one year or two if at all possible. Don't forget to involve your partner in the decision-making process as well. Your wedding should reflect your collective personalities as a couple.

Set The Date

When selecting your wedding dates, try to be as flexible as possible so that you do not limit your options for the wedding venue and other vendors. Consider external factors such as the popularity of wedding dates for other couples (which will make finding available dates difficult and expensive), whether or not your guests will be able to attend. Note that out-of-season weddings, week-day weddings are less expensive than the alternative and you can make massive savings. Be aware though that a weekday wedding could impact your wedding guests. That said, with a good amount of notice, they should be able to work around it.

Make a wedding budget and stick to it.

Because your wedding budget will influence a wide range of wedding-related decisions, you should start by addressing it directly. If your family is going to contribute, sit down with them and talk about how much money you want them to put into the project. If you are the one paying the bill, you should examine your financial situation. If you want to plan a wedding that isn't overly extravagant, you should be aware that there are a lot of hidden costs that are sometimes overlooked when planning a wedding. Make a commitment to sticking with your goal as soon as you've decided on it.

Make a decision on the style of your wedding gown

You can begin your investigation with the bridal inspiration resources you prefer (Pinterest, Instagram, wedding websites, blogs, bridal magazines). When meeting with multiple wedding vendors, having a clear idea of the type of wedding dress you want can be a huge help. Do not be daunted by the abundance of wedding inspiration available on the internet. To assist you in determining the aesthetic style you want for your home, you can create a Pinterest board or even a visual collage on cork or poster board. To make savings consider pre-loved wedding gowns, online wedding suppliers, end of seasons dresses and prom dresses that have a wedding dress vibe.

Decide on A Wedding Theme

Different wedding themes can be incorporated into a wedding in a variety of ways. The specific element could be something unique to a wedding, such as color schemes, styling, or a particular theme (such as Disney, Game of Thrones, Harry Potter, Great Gatsby). Once you've decided on a design, subsequent design decisions become simpler, and everything appears to flow more smoothly. Greenery, Shabby Chic, Boho, Vintage weddings are very popular right now as are rustic mountain and woodland, garden weddings.

Guest List

It may be difficult to narrow down your guest list, especially if you have a limited budget and a venue that does not accommodate your preferences. Before you send out any invitations, spend some time with your loved ones and make a list of everyone you want to invite to your wedding. It's possible that you'll have to give up something important to do so. You must also decide whether or not to invite children and plus ones.

Wedding Venue Reception

Obtain a number of quotes before signing any contract; make sure to include in your comparison information about pricing, services provided, and any budget or guest count restrictions for potential wedding and celebration locations. Even if you're happy with the location and price package you've found so far, keep looking for more feedback. Prior to establishing a pricing structure, research and compare prices at other venues in the area.

Licenses and Legal

Start collecting documentation for your wedding as soon as feasible. Remember that marriage licenses are only valid for a few months and that marriages may have their own set of laws, so be sure to take all that into consideration before wedding.

Plan The Days Events and Let Your Bridal, Wedding Party Know the details

Planning the day's events in advance will not only help people know when and where the various activities will take place, but it will also help them and the wedding party be sure that everything goes smoothly. To put together a wedding, think about details like hair and makeup appointments, driving and travel times, the wedding location's arrival time, and the reception's time of arrival. If you have been notified that your proofs are ready, after checking them yourself, have your photographer, maid of honor, other important family members, and any other vendors who must be informed of the wedding details printed (or emailed) with a copy of your proofs.

Engagement Party, Bachelor, Hen and Stag Do

Planning an engagement party, bridal shower, hen party, bridesmaid brunch, bachelor/bachelorette stag party, or other event can help ensure that the wedding day is as memorable as possible. Despite the fact that you will be participating in some of the preparation in the vast majority of these meetings, most of them will be hosted by family members or close friends.

Rehearsal Dinner

The rehearsal dinner, unlike bridal showers and engagement parties, is usually hosted by you. There's a good chance you'll need to help with the planning process. The rehearsal dinner will need an appropriate venue, an acceptable guest list, a caterer option, and invitations, just as the wedding will. The location of the rehearsal dinner is yet to be selected. A destination wedding or a wedding weekend event may be chosen depending on individual preferences.

Wedding Co-ordinator for the day

To ensure that everything runs smoothly on the big day, be sure to have a coordinator present.

Even if you are unable to find a full-service wedding planner, you can still make the details of the wedding day more professional by having a professional manage them. Plus, they will help you with the last-minute details and other things that you won't have time to complete. Though event planners generally accept bookings that are made six to eight months before the event, we advise that you don't wait until the last minute to reserve their services.

Ask your venue when your suppliers' gear may be set up ahead of time by calling them a few days before the event to find out when they can begin. To have the greatest impact, arrange an event as early as possible, particularly if the location is being used for another purpose that day. You should immediately share the information you've just finished compiling with your merchants so that everyone is well informed about current events.

Regardless of whether you're utilizing a live band or a DJ, or if you're using a turntable, you'll need to plan out the key songs for your honeymoon. While you are doing this, be sure to make a list of the music you don't want to hear, as well as the music you do.

Photography and Social Media

Regardless of whether you're partial to a wedding that's covered by social media or one that is traditional, you need to have a strategy in place. You may encourage your participants to use hashtags, signs, and photo booths, and perhaps other things, to post photographs to social media networks. You could request that your wedding officiant announce in advance that photography and videography are prohibited at the ceremony.

Bridal Party and Groomsmen Gifts

Appreciation is important. While you're at it, you may also want to include modest presents for people who helped with DIY wedding projects, such as friends, as well as for your parents or other family members who have been with you throughout the entire process. You may want to express your gratitude to them during the wedding speech.
